To Hippie or not to Hippie?

That is the question. No, I hear what all the gentlemen are saying, and I think what we're after IS hippyish in the purest 60's form of the word, a different way of life that goes against the status quo, not the $1800 bong-buying patchouli stinkers up on Hawthorne and in Arcata. So then, I'm just about settled into my new apartment and should have internet there soon, which will aid me in contributing much more frequently. What I think we should do is two-fold. First, we should perform some triage on the list of wants that we generated earlier. After we've isolated the top of the list, we can start to think about how those objectives could be organized and run, and what specific resources we might need, what kind of property (ranch, hotel, church etc.) would best suit our purposes. Secondly, I think we should begin to compile a database of people/organizations that could be useful in bringing Pangaea about and giving it life. This way we will have a network of information and services on which to draw whenever a specific need arises. I'm hoping that Allison will have a mouthful of info from Watermill. Her friend Aiyana worked on the administrative side, so that could be good. Also, Becky, perhaps your mom is chock full of info with regard to Mass/Moca? One other thing. I'm taking the most phenomenal workshop ever with East Coast Artists. Using techniques developed by Richard Schechner in combination with Yoga and classical indian acting techniques, we are breaking ground I never knew existed. The possibilities here are so huge, not just for theatre, but all art and human interaction in general. I would leap at the opportunity to share some of this stuff you guys, and I would certainly like to explore some of it at Pangaea as well. My tendonitis is on the flare...gotta roll.

Greetings from Bay Photo

This ain't no burning man folks. That's alls I gots to say...

I want something sustainable. Something livable. Something for others but really I just want to live the way I want to live. We can't be everything for everybody. I think it was really good back when someone wrote that we need to have a place that WE love and that WE are devoted to.

Also, I want to go back to Tyler's idea of a website as a starting place. In this visual theory class I was taking I was studying and thinking a lot about how people use websites. This goes beyond just "publicity". The idea of word-of-(digital)mouth is essential to creating community. I think a big selling point these days is this personal communication based around trust. I no longer look towards big shiny advertisemnts for buying advice but towards my friends and the people I trust. We can have our own preliminary heterotopia without dropping a dime.

That's all for now. Kisses.

your friendly photo lab bitch,
Becky
